East Daley consists of a diverse team of experienced analysts with deep intelligence and broad knowledge of the energy financial industry.
Simpson has nineteen years of experience analyzing and managing energy information and commodity risk in both the gas and power industries. Prior to starting East Daley, Simpson was vice president and general manager for the Platts Power Group. At Platts, Simpson managed a $105 million portfolio of energy information assets. He came to Platts when it purchased Bentek Energy, LLC, where he was an owner. At Bentek, Simpson developed and managed the analytical team. He has modeled large structured transactions in both gas and power for Enron North America as well as traded natural gas. Subsequently he has held positions with MarkWest Hydrocarbon and Eprime, Inc.
Carlson has over 10 years of experience in data analysis, energy information and consulting across the energy sector. Prior to launching East Daley, Carlson was a senior manager at Platts, a division of McGraw Hill Financial, which acquired Bentek Energy, where he was senior member of the leadership team. During his time with Platts/Bentek, Carlson helped execute numerous transformational market studies and led the development of hundreds of customized analysis regarding asset acquisitions, strategic planning, development projects and other market analysis in the oil, gas and natural gas liquids sectors. In his most recent role with the company, he managed the North American Natural Gas Analytics Team responsible for distribution of dozens of publications weekly as well as the development and maintenance of data and models.
Kendall Puig leads East Daley Capital’s NGL market research, analysis and coverage. Prior to joining East Daley, she was a senior analyst of NGLs and LPG at Platts Analytics (formerly Bentek Energy), where she analyzed the fundamentals of the North American natural gas liquids market including supply, demand, pricing, midstream infrastructure, and exports. Ms. Puig has shared her NGL expertise as a speaker at numerous industry events including the Gas Processors Association Convention, Platts NGL Conference and Petrochemical Seminar, Gas Shipping and Trading Americas, CMT Global LPG Trade Summit, and others. She also served as the lead analyst for Bentek’s Market Call North American NGLs quarterly forecast and has authored several other reports and articles on NGL industry trends. Ms. Puig has a bachelor’s of science degree from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Matt is a Seeking Alpha contributor where he has authored a dozen articles with more than a hundred thousand page views focused on fundamental valuation and competitive strategy. Lewis previously worked for TD Ameritrade in credit risk and with Agility Solutions as a business consultant.
He graduated from the University of Denver with a Master of Arts in Global Finance, Trade and Economic Integration, a program that focuses on the complex changes in the global economy, including the emerging patterns of financial, trade and human capital flows and their effect on sectors and economies.
Andy graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in accounting. Ptacek is a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado and a licensed Project Management Professional.
He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado chapter of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies. Prior to joining East Daley Capital, Ptacek was a Senior Consultant with Agility Solutions, a business management consulting firm. There he provided accounting services for multiple E&P and midstream companies headquartered in Denver.
Rob is responsible for modeling midstream companies at the asset level and quantifying the financial impact. Prior to East Daley, Wilson worked as lead analyst on the acquisitions and dispositions team at DCP Midstream. He also spent time working on various asset level analysis, contract dispute negotiations, and other financing-related projects within the CFO organization.
Before DCP Midstream, Wilson worked in the commercial banking sector at Merrill Lynch and led risk management consulting projects for financial services firms while at Protiviti. Wilson graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor degree in Finance and earned the CFA designation in 2016.
Ryan Smith is a Research Director at East Daley Capital Management, responsible for oil & gas production analysis and midstream fundamentals. He has eight years of industry experience analyzing commodity research and managing oil field operations. Prior to East Daley, Mr. Smith developed a keen interest for oil & gas supply forecasting as a Senior Energy Analyst at Bentek Energy. He conducted basin-level and project-specific forecasts that determined outcomes for Bentek’s price forecasts and consulting recommendations. Prior to Bentek, he gained oilfield experience by monitoring lease compliance, well performance, and workovers as a project director. Ryan participates in a family-owned oil & gas production company in Colorado and Nebraska, which specializes in marginal well optimization and acquisitions. Mr. Smith received a B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
